Since Tycho didn't put up a thread to discuss his topic I thought I'd make one.
I figured he might be a little sore after the last discussion. lol.
I am in total agreance with Tycho here. In fact I don't think Tycho even goes far enough.
Sometimes there does not need to be concern for an industry if that industry is, quite frankly, evil.
Did anyone care about the jobs that were lost when the Asbestos industry collapsed?
What about all of the industries we lost coming out of the industrial era when a slew of harmful chemicals and processes were banned?
What about the producers of CFC coolants when thier industry was banned?
People who smoke have been duped, one way or another, and are addicted. Pure and simple. But to be honest I'm not overly concerned for them.
Like Tycho I am concerned for the health of non-smokers who have to breath in the rubbish smokers put out.
Such as things like:

Just as a random google search on the topic.
This is not nanny state stuff, what we do now is nanny state stuff. Where we coddle the smokers and "respect thier rights" and pump millions of dollars into our health system to treat them when they get ill and to help them gently quit smoking.
I have the right to not breath in second hand smoke.
My daughter with cronic lung disease has the right to walk down the street without risking going into arrest.
I think the industry itself needs to be made illegal.
