Oh god, I can relate to this comic. Catching a bus to Kingston via Taroona is a nightmare when there are cyclists. We’re stuck going about 10Km/h up a hill, and 20 of us just want to go home.
Though one bus I caught was brave enough to overtake a group of almost 10 cyclists on one corner. The bus went past a girl cyclist and all I heard were screams after that. The other cyclists slowed down to look behind to see what she was screaming about, whilst a few others flipped off the driver as he yelled out “GET OFF THE ROAD YOU PRICKS”
I have no idea what happened to the girl, but nor do I care. If there is obviously traffic behind them unable to overtake, the least they can do is move to the far side of the road to let the traffic pass.
Even more reason for us to have dedicated cyling lanes as opposed to these odd little strips they keep sticking in the middle of traffic lanes. More cyclists is good, but not if it keep cars idling for hours in slow painful lines of traffic. It serves no purpose.
The idea that has been introduced down in Kingston where busses take the cyclists to the areas with a dedicated bike track/lanes, and then drop them off to prevent this kind of issue, is a great one.

We all think it…
