Everyone’s eagerly anticipating the release of Starcraft 2. I decided to do something a little different for this. I don’t usually do video game comics per se, but I figured I’d do my own little homage.
It’s also a sequel to an older comic from many years back, namely the first run of Wavelength (which isn’t actually online anymore). It was poking fun at the Wavelength gang’s real life avatars’ LAN party exploits in Warcraft 3. Very topical for 2002. You won’t find this comic online anywhere else, so without further ado:
Of course I use the term “comic” pretty loosely, especially considering it consists of two screenshots and a couple of copy-past character templates. But I digress… It was almost eight years ago now.
Anyway, in all honesty I’m a pretty terrible RTS player myself and usually don’t give them much thought, but it’s freaking Starcraft 2!
I used to get thumped even back in 1998 on that one-level Terran multiplayer demo map, but god was it a blast. And it got me hooked for years.
The latest trailer plays like an epic movie and I’d definitely recommend a look. If you’re not aware already, the singleplayer campaign of this first release (The first of three) focuses exclusively on the Terrans and is apparently longer than the entirety of the first game and its expansion. Expect similar releases down the road for the Zerg and Protoss respectively.
